Working Principle And Advantages Of Dutch Barrel
Apr 24, 2024
The Dutch barrel principle is a technique that uses the principle of water evaporation to achieve moisture balance. The Dutch barrel is a simple engineered system that consists of a water pump and a drainage pipe. In the drainage pipe, water flows from the water pump to the bottom of the drainage pipe, then from the water pump at the bottom to the top of the drainage pipe, and from the top to the water pump. This circular flow causes water to evaporate and achieve moisture balance.
Advantages of Dutch barrels include:
1. Allows the growth of many different plant types and sizes
2. Easy to adjust the spacing between plant barrels
3. Save water and nutrients
4. Inert growth media can be reused
5. Easy to add more hydroponic buckets to the system
